Women, Trauma, Memory...
Women coerced into prostitution by Japanese soldiers during World War II have been commemorated by public statues in many countries, yet in Europe, no monument commemorates victims raped during the war. My research explores questions around the potential roles monuments can play, the importance of involving women in developing monuments, or the lack of public commemoration of female victims. Through case studies, I aim to better understand, and provide an understanding of, the reasons behind such politics of concealment, while also considering management aspects.
