The Future Of Microdistricts
The aim of the present dissertation is to acquaint with the development and situation, advantages and disadvantages of the microdistricts in order to make constructive revitalization proposals for the identified problems. The public spaces between the buildings, the so-called intermediate spaces, play a particularly important role in housing estates, therefore the dissertation examines the aspects of the design of public spaces, the principles along which lively urban spaces are organized. After this, the dissertation deals with the transformations of public space use nowadays as a result of digitalisation. The living conditions of the residents can be improved by expanding the range of their used living spaces by activating the intermediate spaces. In the third chapter, the study explores what revitalization efforts can be observed for panel housing estates and their most significant problems. Then, in the last chapter, an analysis of a selected housing estate follows, thus laying the foundation for the site analysis of the architectural diploma project. Finally, I set up a site-adapted revitalization strategy that attempts to address the range of problems observed at the Kelenföld Microdistrict.

The Revitalisatoin of the Microdistrict in Kelenföld
I will create a complex of buildings and spaces that will improve the living conditions of the residents by expanding the range of their living spaces by activating the intermediate public spaces. The project consists of three elements. From the pavilions, connected to the two types of buildings, the long buildings and the tall ones, and from the park surrounding them. My goal is to activate public spaces by adding new elements, to draw people out of their apartments. I am planning a functionally mixed public building complex for the intermediate spaces which will include parking, in addition to facilitating co-living and co-working functions and services. These contribute to the inhabitants being able to live their lives within a given area, the urbanity of the area is strengthened, and the functional diversity is increased. I “stretch out” a coworking block between the first floor office spaces of the tall buildings. This provides a continuous connection that allows the spaces of the three buildings to function as one institution, a spatial system.
