In recent years, film festivals have not only played an exhibition role in the lives of various films, but have complemented programs that provide an unavoidable opportunity in the careers of films and their creators. These include the various talent development programs, workshops, and networking opportunities that most festivals have incorporated into their program. In this thesis, after outlining the important elements of the festival system, I examine the impact these opportunities may have on early-stage animated short filmmakers.
