The role of movement in the kinetic arts
The thesis analyzes the kinetic arts, based on design aspects which arose designing kinetic objects. It is not intended to be a complete coverage, due to the diversity of the topic. It compares definitions from different periods, analyses the movement as an artistic tool. It describes the period of the experimental artists, the formation and the branches of the art trend. In addition to aesthetic effects, examines the accelerating world and relativities found in the field. It focuses on works using moving parts, showing artworks from domestic and international artists, from contemporary and major periods of the trend. It illustrates that connection with nature can be done by mimicking natural phenomena or building on natural forces. It also includes the display of the invisible, the use of liquid flow and magnetism. It presents the possibilities of interaction, as well as the perspectives and effects of machine control.
