Living in a community
My dissertation is a preliminary study of my masterpiece, in which I design collective housing for a young community of artists, therefore in my dissertation I analyze three different domestic examples of living in community. First, I present the life in villages, its natural organization, traditions and events. I examine the community-building role of village customs, as well as how the order of the village shows the way to the individual. In the following, I write about the life of the Gödöllő Artists' Colony, which took the sample of village values. I researched how it was founded, what was the motivation, and why it was outstanding in its time. I show how this eccentric society lived its everyday lives, what impact living in community had on artistic performance. Finally, I write about the Collective House in Miskolc, which gave place for a unique community way of life in the twentieth century. The young people who moved in here, mostly architects, created a world in socialism where they could develop professionally together and, in addition, live freely. Examining the three coexistences, I got closer to the image of the community I considered ideal, I can integrate this knowledge organically into the planning of my masterpiece.
