The impact of the motorcycle engine on society and the appearance of the vehicle
In this thesis the changes associated with the transition of the motorcycles to electric power were examined. Innovation can be studied from many aspects, two of which are analysed below. The first is the changes in the structure of the motorbikes, based on certain stages of vehicle and engine development. The second deals with the perception of electric motorcycles among motorcyclists. The aim of getting to know and presenting the opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of the newly applied technology is to identify possible development directions along which zero-emission bicycles can become more widely accepted. In addition to secondary processing, primary research was carried out in the form of an online questionnaire among Hungarian motorcyclists to facilitate a better understanding. The responses obtained in this way were compared with the results of a survey conducted in 2021 on a similar topic with the participation of British motorcyclists. It can be concluded from the research that in addition to the sentimental connection between motorcyclists and their vehicles, the capacity of the batteries responsible for energy storage and the level of development of the infrastructure necessary for charging are the most important considerations for the perception of electric motors. Furthermore, it turned out that the manufacturers primarily consider the young age group as a potential target group and do not seek to convince the motorcyclists with conservative values. Finally, comparison of the results of the questionnaires revealed that the British motorcyclists interviewed on the subject are more open to electrical technology and for them it is more important to relieve the environment than for the Hungarians who participated in the research.
