In my thesis, through the concept of play, I want to create a comprehensive piece of writing that will hopefully highlight why I think play is the most serious topic to address. On the other hand, I would like to touch on artistic, philosophical, scientific trends that illustrate the kind of attitude and worldview that I will be addressing throughout this thesis. Central to this will be the notions of playfulness and seriousness, metaphor, subjective documentarism, neutralisation, surrealism, epoch and reduction, sacred art and idealism.
