The concept of time and repetition in the works of Andrei Tarkovsky and Béla Tarr
My thesis deals with the concept of repetition and time, its value in creating a specific cinematic world in the works of film directors Andrei Tarkovsky and Béla Tarr. There are many more points of contact in the work of these two directors, who differ from each other in many respects, than one might at first think. In my thesis, I will show what Tarkovsky and Tarr want to talk about in their films through their specific representations of the concepts of repetition and time, and what cinematic means they use to do so. The main strand of the thesis is an exploration of the use of filmic time and repetition as cinematic language devices.
