Mask
The everyday objects in our immediate environment have an impact on our lifestyle and mindset. In a longer period of time, certain objects can have intensive and uniformly read meaning as a sign understood by broad sections of society. I see the possibilities of developing such a specific association between the protective masks used in the defense against Covid-19 (object as a signifier) and the period of the fight against the pandemic (concept as the signified). In my dissertation, after an in-depth analysis of the subject and its examination in different contexts, I draw on this association to create a future art project that emphasizes the importance of the collective experience we get exposed to globally across cultural environments and generations.
