Under the pressure of the Yugoslav Wars in the 1990s, many artists continued their creative careers in another country. Katalin Ladik, László Lantos, Béla Máriás and Bálint Szombathy are the focus of my dissertation, who also emigrated to Hungary from Vojvodina.I processed their escape stories through personal interviews, shaping their stories into a unit in which it becomes visible how they reacted to the changed circumstances and to each other in the times before and after the border crossing.
