How does the kitchen become part of the museum?
The kitchen has been mixing culture preservation, tradition and the introduction of new technologies for centuries. It is displaying the past, present and future at the same time, the same as the museum does. The museum was first developed as a collection of special objects and treasures, however in this construction only later during the 20th century, the material records of modern design appear, and the ordinarization of museums begins. An important element of this process is that the kitchen also becomes visible in the museum. By the last third of the 19th century, ethnographic museums emerge, with a strong emphasis on the presentation and analysis of kitchens.
