In the first part of my thesis I study the connection beetween the experience of art and psychology, based on the last century’s research of this field. I bring forward a few important philosopher non-exhaustive, afterwards i present the work of Daniel E. Berlyne in more detail, focusing on his „Collativ Variables” research. I analyse the main dimensions – the simplicity-complexity and the novelty-familiar - juged by Berlyne in his thesis. My aim is, an attemt to understand the reaserchers thinking as a designer, so I can use the choosen essay for a more consious designing process.

masterwork
In the design process of my thesis I examined the concept of complexity through the aspects of curiosity and excitement. The goal of my masterwork is to fulfill the following aspects: the coexistence of the pattern and the structure and the mark of the work of the human hand. In the 15-piece pattern collection, I get the transformation of geometric elements through material processing. Within the framework of the system I have defined, patterns change their character, structure and space during the transformation from open to closed endpoints.
