An Introduction to the Design Criteria of Virtual Scenography
Based on a Study of the VR Experience Notes on Blindness
Scenography is an ever-evolving discipline that constantly incorporates and adopts new technologies. As a designer, the modern scenographer is concerned with the design of space in its entirety, using it as a tool to achieve the desired psychological effects. By exploring this design process, we can learn more about the effects of space and atmosphere on human psychology and the significance of creating visual dramaturgy. To help illustrate this, we review the design process and analyse the scenographic representation of Notes on Blindness, a 2016 VR experience, which demonstrates the complexity and scope of scenography across different specialisations.
