Systems of Connection Between Textile Art and Anxiety

The primary aim of my thesis was to explore and present some of the systems of connections between textile art and anxiety, with a focus on the elderly and people living with intellectual disabilities. As a textile designer, I am looking for answers to questions such as: how can the problems and challenges of ageing and disability be taken into account as early as the design phase? The results of the fieldwork carried out in the course of the research provide evidence that textile art activities can not only help us experience flow, but also to release anxiety and deal with trauma. Additionally, the experience of making something together and celebrating each other's successes encourages conversation and talking, which is crucial in relieving loneliness and providing a sense of support.
