Gaudí's Vision of Nature in the Context of Object Design
My thesis begins with an examination of Gaudí's career: after outlining the time period, I focus on the origins of his vision of nature. The subsequent chapters discuss the emergence of this vision, as well as its expression in buildings and furniture through various examples. In these chapters I highlight and examine two selected pieces of furniture from a design point of view. The rest of the paper contextualises Gaudí's work and understanding of nature within a broader interpretation of biomimicry. Finally, the conclusion explores the origins and natural inspirations behind human material culture.
