Surveillance, control, power
In my thesis, I applied four different approaches to explore the topic of surveillance. First, I discussed the method of participant observation, then I examined surveillance as a social and political tool for discipline and coercion. In the third part, I discussed the often overmystified work of the detective and the private eye, then lastly, I introduce artists who employed the strategy of surveillance in the course of their work.

Book
My diploma work is based on my own infiltration into my immediate surroundings. I was observing myself for five weeks from an inexplicit, artificial “outer” perspective. The photos, drawings, objects and sounds I collected during this period were then structured into a book, which is as if an unusually well-covered, creative private eye would have given account of my activities.
