Built on the duality of a collective “grey scent” blended from traces left in 95 perfume bottles and unique wax impressions taken from the participants’ skin, the installation explores how personal biochemistry and narrative transform the scent of forgetting into tactile, individual memory.

My thesis explores the atmosphere-building strategies of contemporary olfactory art, showing how the incorporation of smell, overriding the dominance of the visual, can transform the passive perceiver into an active, embodied participant through the dramaturgy of uncertainty.
