Drawing on the contemporary art criticism analysed in the thesis, my masterwork parodies the hyper-optimised, isolating mechanisms of profit-driven “modern” society through the concept of a fictional gallery designed for the site of the Museum of Applied Arts and accessible exclusively by car.

The Logic of Conflicts Surrounding Contemporary Art
By examining the social distrust surrounding contemporary art, my thesis raises the possibility that lay online criticism can also be interpreted as a legitimate response to the gap between the public’s traditional aesthetic expectations and the theory-driven workings of the art world.
