Structures and collaborations as an arts manager

I came to Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design with an initial focus on contemporary dance management, whilst for the past year and a half, I have been working as an independent manager for an emerging alternative music band and a solo singer. Behind this dynamic shift lies a constructive transition; I participated in the creation of a series connecting the arts of music and dance at the Hajógyár. The diversity of my experiences lies not only in working with different creators but also in the structures of my workplaces: from simple organization to independent construction and beyond the realm of media. I have also participated in the collaboration of two large-scale artistic institutions as a project manager for the Intermezzo Festival, as well as learning in the communication division of a complex higher education institution as a member of MOME Brand Office.

Career paths and roles in Hungarian music management

How does someone become a music manager, and what kind of motivations keep them in the profession? My main thesis and experience say that managers of music formations simultaneously hold multiple positions. In my research, I examine whether this phenomenon is driven solely by financial factors or if there is also a psychological background to role multiplicity. My goal is to shed light on the stability and internal correlations within the challenging profession behind the scenes. My study is based on in-depth interviews, literature, and my own experiences.
