Self-management in fashion

Fashionable self-management

During my BA studies, Corvinus Academy of Arts gave me many opportunities, including the first time I heard about MOME’s Art and Design Management MA, and the chance to work for Műtárgy.com and Art Today – ’Szerkesztőség’. In the course of the MA, I found new people, different contacts and opportunities at MOME, which almost like a turning point started me on a different path, reminding me why I had applied for this MA programme in the first place. I came to be involved in the organisation of Manage it Yourself and the MOME Fashion Show 2023, as well as Terike from Budapest's first fashion performance. These different professional experiences helped me to understand the importance of self-brand and identification.

Designer charisma in the Hungarian and French fashion industries

This thesis applies Pierre Bourdieu's concepts of designer charisma and personal magic to understand the processes of the Hungarian and French fashion industries. Bourdieu argues that the fashion industry, unlike all other cultural and creative industries, relies on strong personal brands. This is why this concept can be placed at the centre of comparative analysis. The thesis defines the concept of designer charisma and then analyses the place of charisma in the construction of brand identity by placing it in the context of some specific fashion brands. The thesis looks at the contemporary brands analysed from a brand strategy and brand management perspective.
