Hűvösvölgyi Children's Home

My programme focuses on the social (and labour market) integration of the residents of the children’s home and on levelling the playing field for them. This can be achieved through talent nurturing, connections with children in conventional families, strengthening the community and a focus on aftercare. By regrouping the functions of the 4 buildings of the Hűvösvölgy Children's Home (general children’s home, special children's home, aftercare home and an abandoned building) and adding new units, more special needs children could be placed here and new spaces could be created that promote individual and community development. A key task, however, is the aftercare of young adults who are already 18 or over. With these in mind, in my project I focus on expansion and on the existing building that is not in use due to its poor condition – this is where the general children’s home, the aftercare home and the community house are placed.

Institutions of the Hungarian child care system

An analysis of hospitalisation and the educational tools for social mobility in children in foster care

The aim of my thesis is to explore the Hungarian child protection system, with a focus on children in foster care. These children are on the periphery of society in their early years already, and often they can’t break out of this situation. In my research I explore the common obstacles that hinder their social integration. The aim of my thesis is to understand these processes and to shape my findings into a coherent body of knowledge. In my thesis I discuss, in detail, the issues of psychological traumatisation and the difficulties in finding employment and I explore potential solutions, especially the possibilities of personal attention, education and talent nurturing. My thesis is meant as a preliminary study for planning a children’s home, so I also discuss the significance of various housing/placement forms in these processes. My aim is to create an ideal atmosphere for appropriate psychological, mental and physical development.
