Glasshouse

My diploma project is a short film about the creative, inner processes I experience during the creative work of animation and filmmaking. In the glass house three characters, each representing a different motivation, shoot a film together, and strange events trigger changes in all of them.

Leos Carax and self-reflexive film

In my thesis, I examine how the French film director Leos Carax uses reflexive methods and style elements in feature films, based mostly on the findings of Ágnes Pethő’s study, Reflexivitás a filmben [Reflexivity in film]. An analysis of reflections on the medium, art and cinema and of the self-reflexive narrative elements in Leos Carax’s films, as well as of the stylistically self-reflexive cinematic techniques used suggests that the director uses these tools not just in the traditional sense of self-reflexivity, but also as a way of expression that points beyond itself. The whole oeuvre is like a net, it creates a system that keeps reflecting on itself, too, and new layers are added to the various manifestations of reflexivity, and to the meaning and interpretations of his films.
