WEIRDOCORE

GORGEOUS WEIRDO: is not just a persona creation experiment, but a visual world and aesthetics creation. The structure of this collection is based on and inspired by the observation of weirdness. I examine these aspects according to three broad categories: basic structure (pattern/ finishing), surface (textured/ smooth), interface (print/ colour). An important part of the concept is my own typology of 6 elements. These six themes are (1) tücsöklakodalom, (2) anti-design/ radical design, (3) unconventional bodies, (4) biomimicry, (5) viral fashion/ defining moments and (6) my own symbols. Weirdness is a kind of hybrid, a mixing and re-contextualising of familiar dressing forms until you can't even recognise the source. So what exactly do I do? I'm creating a collection of 7 looks based on weirdness, which can be traced through all the pieces in the collection from different perspectives. The collection aims to extend weirdness on all levels.

STATEMENT ITEMS IN CONTEMPORARY FASHION

Basic research to establish the concept of the GORGEOUS WEIRDO

In my thesis I explore statement fashion and try to provide an accurate definition for the term statement piece. In contemporary fashion, clothing items and accessories that make strong statements about the identity of the individual are very important. These fashion items often become viral memes on social media platforms. In my BA thesis I explored this phenomenon, and in my MA thesis, I place viral fashion in a broader context: I extend it to clothing items that represent status and identity (statement fashion), with a special focus on the six-element typology that I created and that is an integral part of my identity as a designer.
