Fi-luxGenerative lamp design, texture, and innovations in 3D ceramics printing

My master's thesis focuses on the material research and application of translucent 3D ceramic printing, aiming to design and create parametrizable, generative pattern systems and light fixtures, and to use open-source DIY 3D printer extruders.

New dimensions in additive technologyThe role of the designer in 3D ceramic printing

In my thesis, I explore the impact of 3D ceramic printing on the role, thinking process and options of the designer in ceramic technology. In the traditional ceramic industry, designers had a limited set of tools available and used mostly manual forming techniques, but the emergence of 3D ceramic printing has brought about new possibilities. As a result, more complex forms and structures can be created now, ones that would have been extremely difficult before. Tools available in the digital world allow for more detailed and precise design and execution. In addition, 3D ceramic printing provides an opportunity to try new materials and techniques, which promotes innovation and the creation of unique products. As a result, the role of the designer becomes broader and more complex, considering the potential and the limits of technology in the design process. Designers are now more than just designers, they are technology developers and innovators who learn and use new tools and techniques.
