My little garden

In my thesis, my goal is to show my creative garden through the creation of a felt carpet, for which I combine the plants and surfaces of my home environment with the textile techniques that characterize my work. As inspiration, I examine the techniques of making traditional felt rugs and North Caucasian rugs, which also create compositions from the flowers of their environment.

The potential in contemporary felt

In my thesis I explore felting and its contemporary manifestations. In the first part of the research I describe the material and the technique, with a focus on their evolution and the purposes this material has been recently used. In my thesis
I present traditional wet felting (done with water and soap), needle felting and industrial production, and I compare the roles these can play in contemporary art. My main aim is to present, as examples, artists who have introduced special technical solutions and other innovations in felting. With that, the use of materials is placed in the context of contemporary art, since this technique has long been suitable for solutions other than the traditional ones.
