masterwork
Wish You Were Ear
My masterwork is an animated short film set in a world where after a breakup, partners must swap a body part. This means people literally lose a part of themselves and they also carry all previous relationships with them. I wish to reflect on the formative impact of our relationships with our body parts; every extrinsic part is a symbol of a change. The main focus of the film is self image. The protagonist has a distorted image of themselves and a longing for their original, whole body, until one day they see their original ear on someone else, which sets them off on the path to self-acceptance.

The conlang as part of world-building in cinema
Ours is the golden age of constructed languages, or conlangs, in science fiction and fantasy films. In my thesis, I explore the visual representation and typography of these languages in an animated film, a series and a feature film, describing the role they play in world building.
