The use of puppet costumes in the drama King Ubu
The masterpiece is organized around Alfred Jarry's drama The King of Übü. The structure of the costume designs is based on a specific system of relationships that I created between the puppet costumes and the characters positioned according to the hierarchy in the story. Among the implemented designs are Übü Papa and Übü Mama, whose personalities are so drawn that I present them in puppet costumes. Showing the contrast between seriousness and absurdity, Queen Rozmunda wears a body mask.

Costume puppets
The thesis is centred around costume puppets as it explores the types and structural properties of objects, puppets and costumes under this concept. The research also covers the relevance of costume puppets in contemporary theatrical productions and how these can assist dramaturgy. I also try to find the line that separates the costume puppet and the puppeteer. I analyse how actors can relate to and work with the costume puppets they wear. My primary research method is to analyse literature and of the costumes in plays relevant to the topic. Interviews I conducted with people involved in puppet theatre contributed to the interpretation.
