NOAH

With my diploma project, I present the concept of a game. Noah is a narrative adventure game, where the goal is to create a biological weapon of mass destruction. In this story-driven experience, players take the role of Abigael, the daughter of a mad scientist, to execute his will on a remote island. The game is centred around the opposition of civilisation and nature, and the responsibility of humans in how this relationship evolves. With my work I would like to invite the players to a deep and intense story and present this global problem from the perspective of two, traumatised persons who only inherited some distorted ideology. I seek to answer the question whether it is possible to leave the belief systems of one’s family behind. I present the concept of the game in a teaser. My aim was to test and present the atmosphere, mechanics, technique, select locations, the UI and the sounds of the game.

Ecology and the drive for change Ecoterrorism and deep ecology

The aim of my thesis is to provide a comprehensive analysis of ecoterrorism and its relationship with the deep ecology movement. An overview of the history of ecoterrorists and a description of their activities is followed by a presentation of the fundamentals of deep ecology, based on the philosophy of Arne Naess. Finally, I compare these two movements and offer a criticism of both.
