The costume provides a visual medium to convey the character's personality, emotions, and social status. Costumes can also be a marker of character development. In my thesis, I would like to illustrate this phenomenon by analysing the costumes of a contemporary play, People of the Plains (On Social Anxiety). To gain a deeper insight into the meaning behind the costumes and the design process of the play, I also conducted an interview the costume designer.
