The Link Between Environmental Psychology and the Built Environment
Analysing the Environmental Psychological Impacts of the Architectural Home Space
The thesis presents the link between environmental psychology and the built environment. This is a rather large area of psychology, therefore I am going to focus on an area of environmental psychology that I have personal insight into, enabling me to draw relevant conclusions. The aim of the thesis is to analyse a familiar built environment that constitutes a fundamental and substantial setting for the everyday life of MOME architecture students, based on the existing knowledge of an emerging discipline. It is about the psychological impact of such a large, open plan area from this perspective. I consider the drawbacks and advantages, as well as how they relate to the psychological characteristics of the individual when a single space serves a multitude of functions in this special area of higher education, where the atmosphere significantly determines the quality and efficiency of creative work.
