My thesis examines what makes Tim Burton’s films so characteristic, and the means by which he builds his fantasy worlds and creates their atmosphere. I observe and analyse this on the basis of a few selected aspects, such as his distinctive stylistic elements, the he mise-en-scène, the sets and costumes, as well as the soundtrack and general soundscape. A professional examination of these will allow us to get a better understanding of the director's mindset. By observing and learning from these elements, we can evolve as filmmakers.
