My thesis examines the relationship between fine art and political public life in Hungary. What responsibility do private galleries and collectors have in exhibiting and buying works that represent some kind of involvement? I examine participatory art by studying one piece each by domestic and international practitioners of participatory art, and then use the example of Csaba Nemes to introduce this genre of activist art that draws on personal conviction and experience.
