Rapid Prototyping and Biodesign
New Dimensions of Aesthetics and Functionality in Object Design
My thesis explores the phenomena of the design process and modern applied arts, with a particular focus on the impact of 3D printing, digital craft, and biodesign. I analyse how these technologies and ideas influence the aesthetic appearance of current objects and what potential they offer for further development. I follow this thread through an analysis of successful or ongoing projects, research studies, and collaborations, to understand whether we are truly seeing a change in the aesthetics of applied art objects, and how these new trends can support designers.
