My thesis aims to provide an insight into the field of hiking clothing and accessories by analysing the function of the products, the market players, and the user community, and by comparing this clothing area with the highly trend-focused fashion industry. By analysing the general characteristics of hiking equipment and comparing the differences between these two areas of the clothing industry, I would like to clarify how the trends that have shaped fashion have evolved, and from where and how the two areas have arrived at their current state.
