Applied Autonomy
Before and After Andy Warhol
My thesis explores and interprets the concept of creative autonomy through the work of Andy Warhol. The aim of the research is to reflect on artistic freedom by focusing on a creative career whose autonomous nature is not derived from its aesthetic signature, but rather from the creative individual himself. The artist using applied art surfaces raises the question whether artistic freedom comes from the artwork as an end result or from the unrestrained attitude of the artist.
