The thesis aims to introduce snowboarding and its world to the reader. We start with a general definition of sports, and then use this understanding to juxtapose snowboarding with other sports, looking for similarities and differences. Having discussed the history and evolution of snowboarding, I then turn to the more subjective aspects of the activity. What are snowboarders like and how do they behave? Is snowboarding a sport or an art form?
