My thesis analyses the emergence and evolution of the 'High Jewellery' genre through the example of three jewellery houses. I am mainly focusing on the jewellery houses Boucheron, Cartier, and Bulgari, which have created dozens of timeless pieces over the decades. My aim is to paint a comprehensive picture of the history of jewellery houses, analysing their creations and tracing their design history and technological development.
