My thesis examines the unique attributes of the art of the Far East and how these features have appeared in the arts of Western nations as well. Among the many oriental cultures, my research specifically focuses on porcelain making and painting in the Chinese culture. We learn about its history and unique qualities. My thesis reveals how Orientalist objects first appeared in Western culture and how they inspired the work of Western artists.
