We Wish to be Reflected
The Reflective Impact of Photography in Art Therapy
There is more to photography than creating aesthetically pleasing images: I find the effect of the resulting images on the beholder equally exciting. For the viewer, the image acts as a visual mystery, but there is no single objective solution. And the narrative that the images create in the recipient is never accidental. The image is complemented by the beholder's individual wealth of experiences, feelings, values: all the complex and infinite layers of their being. My thesis explores how the process of consuming photography can become a journey of self-discovery, and through the expression of the resulting inner processes, a healing, therapeutic method.
