Gateway

My goal is to create an artwork inspired by the motif of a gate that prompts the viewer to interact with the space. I would like the interpretation of the external and internal spaces to allow the viewer to transcend the everyday flow and enter into their own realms of thoughts and emotions. The material of glass allows for a direct view, creating a special experience in this composition: emotionally, it provides the sensation of transition, passage, and the experience of change. My artwork emphasises the importance of experiencing human thoughts and emotions, and the necessity of connecting with ourselves and others.

The motif of the gate in contemporary Hungarian glass art

My thesis studies the relevance and symbolism of the gate as an artistic subject. I sought out works of glass art by Hungarian artists and conducted interviews with them in order to understand the meaning and measurable qualities of the works of art. Dissecting these and also familiarising myself with international works of art, I endeavoured to find my own form of creative self-expression.
