masterwork
KÉKTÓ PUSZTA
Regenerative farming and pastoral school
In my masterwork, I focused on floodplain rehabilitation as a possible tool for climate adaptation in the Great Hungarian Plain (Alföld). Instead of developing a naive utopia, I examined the process of achieving a more ideal and more resilient landscape compared to the current state. I used the insights gained from this analysis in the development of my programme. Involving interdisciplinary approaches, the design proposes to establish an experimental educational farm and create an associated programme through the rehabilitation of the former wetland area of Kéktó Puszta (Blue Lake Plains) in the region of Hódmezővásárhely.
thesis
Floodplain Rehabilitation
The possibilities of habitat rehabilitation and rural development in the Tisza floodplain in light of the ecological crisis
In my thesis, I explore the topic of floodplain rehabilitation as a climate adaptation method, focusing on its spatial, temporal, and historical dynamics. I place particular emphasis on the connections between environmental protection and agriculture, and the potential for rural development that lies within them. As a preliminary study for my master's thesis, my goal was to comprehensively understand and present this complex topic, making sure that I selected a relevant problem, programme, and site. In the course of my research, it was important for me to consult with experts from various disciplines who helped me navigate the complex and still pliable theories and concepts. The conclusion is largely the same: there is a need for landscape experiments and the creation of model farms where we can experiment with this radically different system in practice. Although the thesis deals with areas that are distant from the strictly defined discipline of architecture, it implicitly touches upon the definition, role, and boundaries of the profession if we interpret architecture in a broader sense as a practice of shaping the environment or consciously altering the quality of a place.
