Confrontation
My photographs help me examine the manageability of historical heritage and trauma through the unresolved, contradictory, and unclear family histories of the recent past. The main motif is provided by relationships and attitudes that dissect the questions of fallibility, responsibility, and identity, offering the possibilities of reinterpretation as a way out. In order to reinterpret the past and turn towards each other, it is necessary to look the events of the past in the eye, including our own feelings, prejudices, and guilt, even when it is difficult.
thesis
Portrait, personality, story
My thesis examines the connections between portraits and storytelling. Is the face a readable text in itself? Do we have tools to decode the human face? I analyse contemporary works of art that use photographic portraits not as standalone pieces but instead, offer relevant examples of embedding the human face in a narrative context.
