Tales in the Museum, Museums in Tales
Representation of museums in narrative fiction picture books abroad and in Hungary

The study focuses on the analysis of fictional picture books that feature museums, museum visits, and artworks. The aim of the research was to explore the domestic and international practices in this field. The plots of the books I examined mainly revolve around the theft of valuable objects, which the authors often imbue with magical powers. There is a relatively limited availability of Hungarian-language children's books featuring museums. The results highlighted the importance of increasing the number of related books in order to demystify museums and help children learn about them.
