The starting point of my masterwork is inspired by the disparity of the urban-rural dynamics. Rural resident are not in charge of their physical environment, and the reason for that can be attributed as much to the subordinate role of rural areas as to the difficult access to services and resources. I believe that free access to basic services is a fundamental human right that ideally should be available to everyone, both in urban and rural areas. In my project, I am making an attempt to facilitate this access for residents of small rural settlements. To achieve this, I strive to identify and reinterpret local features that lie outside of the focus of economic and power interests. Therefore I work with the infrastructure of railway branch lines. With minor modifications, these currently underutilised railway lines could potentially accommodate any missing services.
