Decorative Tiles

My goal is to design something that emphasises the relationship between nature and humans, building on the connection between a natural material and an artificial one. The soft, lively green of nature and the grey hardness of artificial concrete form a contrast that also determines the compositional possibilities of my masterwork. My masterwork is a functional concrete cladding that serves as an architectural element, providing a living environment for unique plants in both outdoor and indoor spaces. The straightforward manufacturing of the various interchangeable cladding elements and the design of the associated production technology were important considerations.

Green spaces in the city
Connecting plants and concrete

My thesis studies the psychological effect of plants through the relationship between humans and the environment. I analyse the appearance of the colour green in environmental planning through examples. This constitutes the core of my graduation project. I study the role of plants in environmental psychology, examining different types of plants and associated design options. The compelling contrast between the tactility and texture of moss as a natural material and concrete as an man-made material sparks exciting possibilities.
