I Would Eat It If I Could

My masterwork is a 3D animated short film. The main character, Marci (20s), arrives at his former home, a peaceful rural environment, on a crowded underground train. His friends welcome him, and they set off together to their favorite place. Along the way, it quickly becomes evident that Marci is unable to readjust to the nostalgic idyll. He continuously drifts off and becomes disconnected. As we gain insight into the various stages of his anxiety, we simultaneously see as his friends attempt to help him. Finally, they manage to merge the paths that diverged at the beginning of the film, allowing them to experience the nostalgic feeling of summer bonfires and swimming.

The presence of escapism today and its depiction in film

My thesis focuses on the subject of escapism. It examines the concept itself and how it affects creators. Through selected films we explore how filmmakers adapt the subject of escapism.
