Utopia

In terms of the future of food, my goal is to focus on algae as a superfood and explore the possibilities of small-scale cultivation. I aim to create an algae biofarm that takes human scale and functional usage into account, making it easy to integrate into the urban environments of today and the speculative future. I am designing a compact cultivation unit that incorporates a toolkit to accompany the entire life cycle of cultivation and consumption. As part of my research and design process related to algae cultivation, I explore the processing methods, matching materials, and general usability of algae for food purposes. By developing recipes, I demonstrate a diverse range of possibilities for usage.

Glass shaped by flames
Analysing the areas of application of glass-making techniques using case studies

The silicate industry and associated professions need to adapt to current energy crisis. I find it important to revive glass working technologies that are on the decline, including glass-making techniques that have smaller environmental impacts due to the low processing energy required. The aim of my thesis is to examine the emergence and methods of glass-making, and to identify the factors that regulate their rise and fall. I primarily investigate my focus areas through a historical and technological lens, then present the prevailing hard and soft glass processing techniques using specific examples.
