The Representation of the Interplay Between Christian Identity and Gender Identity Through the Medium of Film
Religious identity and gender identity are both integral parts of one's self-image, and regardless of affiliation, studying and understanding the interplay between them is particularly important for mutual understanding and acceptance. Both Christian churches and LGBTQ+ communities emphasise the importance of experiencing and sharing love, yet the public perception is that the two question each other's set of values. In my thesis, I examine the concurrent representation of Christianity and gender ideology in contemporary films, with particular emphasis on their role in social awareness and sensitisation.
