Hungarian Biedermeier Souvenir Glasses

By examining commemorative Biedermeier drinking glasses, my thesis analyses the role of glassware and especially drinking glasses in the context of souvenir collecting. I present the emergence and spread of both the Biedermeier style and the commemorative glass as an object type, then delve into the history of souvenir objects from their
appearance to the present day. Based on the information thus gathered, the aim of my research is to compare the changes observed between Biedermeier era and modern souvenir glasses. To achieve this, I take into consideration the quality of the objects and the tools and techniques of their craftsmanship. I also seek to find out what might have caused these changes and what value shifts can be observed between the Biedermeier and contemporary
 souvenir objects.
