My thesis focuses on the symbolism and reasons behind the anthropomorphic transformations occurring in Hungarian folk tales. I explored how this motif can be meaningfully represented in contemporary animated works. To understand this, I compared the bird embodiment of the fairy character Ilona from the Hungarian folk tales Tündérszép Ilona and Árgyélus (Enchanting Fairy Ilona) with Beatrice, a prominent character from the animated series Over the Garden Wall.
